Domestic Violence is a crime that presents itself in a variety of different ways that include physical, emotional, psychological and financial abuse. The impact cuts across all social, geographical and cultural groups and the statistics are disturbing: • 25% of women experience Domestic Violence at some stage of their lives. • Two women a week are murdered by a violent partner. • Recorded crime rates only show the ‘tip of the iceberg’.
We need to ensure that our services meet the needs of those experiencing Domestic Violence and that women receive consistent, swift and effective support. We aim to provide help and assistance from a range of agencies to meet women’s needs in a coordinated and effective manner. We are in a process of developing a Domestic violence Strategy and would very much appreciate to hear your views to enable us to improve our services.
